A nice thing happened on my way to my fitness class
earlier this morning
where I was going to weigh in.
I was expecting the worse
having over indulged
while I was away last week.
A local mad woman
she is mad - bonkers in fact
was approaching me
holding a bunch of daffodils.
I could plainly see that she had picked them from some one's garden
as they were open & not wrapped buds.
I said,
" hello
and she answered,
" You look pretty "
which made my day.
I added,
" Nice Flowers..."
& she replied,
" I nicked them "
I said,
" I thought so "
and started giggling all the way down the road.
She'd blatantly nicked them from my friend's garden
who will be furious when she notices.
Anyway, I digress,
I was going to talk about the hot guys in Aussie soaps.
I've always been a fan of Neighbours,
but recently started to follow
Home and Away.
One of the characters, Liam
is an ex drug addicted lead singer of a band
who in true soap style
is now clean from drugs & booze, a music teacher at the high school
with beautiful girlfriend
who chose him over an Italian Prince.
I see that also in true Aussie soap style
"Liam"
actor Axle Whitehead
is about to release a single in the States.
There is a story line at the moment
involving three
" River Boys "
Brothers;
"Brax"
Heath
and Casey.
I was telling Jess about yesterday's episode
when I stopped & giggled
and said,
"Not that I'm addicted to Aussie soaps of course !"
My mum used to get exasperated
when all my nieces talked about was Eastenders.
She made some comment or other
and one of my nieces looked at her and said
" It is real life Granny "
ummm
And my link between daffodils & hot guys ?
I feel there should be a link
so I'm not simply rambling.
Every year a group of female friends & I
go on a girls' weekend away to a sports & craft centre in Devon.
We always book the first weekend in February as it's the cheapest.
Most years we coincide with a group of men on a golfing holiday.
Now these guys are not hot by any means
but it is nice to have a group of men on the dance floor
or we girls would be left dancing round our handbags in our white court shoes
( or not ! )
One year the men watched rugby all afternoon
and for some very peculiar reason
( Wales was playng )
they were eating daffodils...
they were so ill they missed;
supper, the Disco & breakfast the next morning !
I bet those Aussie surf dudes wouldn't be so stupid !
ROFL - thanks for brightening my day.

To avoid me wandering as lonely as a cloud to view the daffs, I think I shall take Heath with me. He looks like he could lift a bunch of daffs or six.
ReplyDeleteAccording to something I read on the net yesterday, Daffodils are toxic to other flowers, so you really shouldn't put them together in a vase. Which makes you wonder why they are toxic, no doubt the rugby watching boys could shed some light on it.
Brax and Heath are rather nice, I do like the tattoo thing x
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha....you provided a laugh for me just when I needed one. Thank you. Hugs, Margie.
ReplyDeleteI love the Aussie guys on U.S. soaps! They are hot with their accents and all.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I am a fan of Aussie soaps but love your story about the mad woman and the daffs!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you were going to tie this all together! I watch Neighbours everyday when I'm slaving over a hot oven and approve of everyone being beautiful and young - there are no old people any more in Australia - aging Lou must be getting rather nervous!
ReplyDeleteAre you going on your girlie weekend away this year then?
The daffs on my windowsill are looking a bit wilted, I must go and nick some from my friend's garden tomorrow! That'll save 99p.
xx
No Jo I gave this year's weekend a miss as I was saving to go oop North but I'm booked for next year. As I as I've done most of the activities I've had a two year break but will enjoy them again next time. Archery, pistol shooting, enamelling here I come !
ReplyDeleteAussie soaps, mad golfers, daffodils....your links are tenuous yet they work and it all comes together in the end....and make me laugh!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment today.
Sue xx
Hmmmmm, definitely tenuous. How hilarous though.
ReplyDeleteHow funny... I'm welsh but I've never eaten a daffodil, plenty of leeks though! x
ReplyDeleteYou mean there is more than one mad woman in your village?????? LOL xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteOh I get it now! Yes, I do. I guess.
ReplyDeleteLove the local whackos!
Jim
Be still my thumping heart!
