Happy customer

Sometimes I love my job. If you are new to reading here, I am deputy manager of a village charity shop which supports our wonderful community centre. I have been involved from the very beginning about eight or nine years ago as a volunteer then co manager.

I went back to volunteering after a break and am now deputy manager.

On Saturday I sold five little ex Tapas bowls to a customer and asked if they were for cat food as I use bowls like that. The customer said not for cats but Hedgehogs ! His wife runs a Hedgehog rescue so I gave him one bowl for free.

It was a nice conversation and chatting to customers is my favourite part of the job.

The new manager has been poorly so I covered her days off and did a lot of tidying which involved quite a lot of lifting heavy items so now have back ache which is the worst part of the job !

  1. Cute story. I'm going to get much more opportunity to talk to customers in the next few months, as all of our interns are leaving very shortly and I will need to work on the till more. I'm actually quite looking forward to it.
