New Years catch up

Happy new year dear Blog friends,
You know who you are.

I read about six Blogs these days and receive about three or four comments when I do post which isn't often.

We had a lovely Christmas with my mum joining us for two days. A friend from the Charity shop had to cancel her Christmas plans as her Spaniel had a huge operation on her back and needed to rest so my friend couldn't drive to her daughter's for Christmas so she joined us to eat which was lovely. It was so funny as I gave husband a new coffee machine and my friend refused to leave until husband had made her a coffee.

Sadly we lost one of our amazing volunteers to Cancer after Christmas who will be sorely missed.

Our darling daughter left for her trip to Asia on December 28th. I was upset at her leaving but am now enjoying her photos and messages. We have face timed a few times. Today she is in Hoi An, Vietnam which she is loving. Her last message said she will return one day and meet me there ! I may have to wait for a while as she is going on to New Zealand in Febryary for an indefinite period !

Jess is in a lovely travel group with G Adventures who sponsor many charities in Cambodia and Vietnam so the group has eaten at restaurants where youngsters are taught to cook. Jess is determined to master chopsticks !

Our son Joe may join Jess in New Zealand if he ever gets his act together ! Joe is the most laid back person I know. I think he'd really enjoy travelling but meanwhile works hard with husband.

I bought Jess loads of new knickers to go away with but could only get the ones she likes with seasonal prints like snowflakes so she is travelling Asia with Christmas pants. When she sent some laundry away at one hotel stop she only received the knickers back and not all her vest tops and T shirts. Although annoying, we did giggle about her snowflake knickers.

All of the group has had some clothes made at a Tailor's. Jess's has trousers. In the Temples she has a long skirt to pull on. It was a bit stressful packing her rucksack as she has to take a minimal amount for this tour but will need warmer clothes in New Zealand. We can send her winter clothes out.

On the home front, Dillon is ageing fast and stumbles a lot, dear old thing. The cats are all hogging the radiators and happy to sleep all day. Husband and I are enjoying some of the new season television series started.

I have had my hip pain diagnosed and having Physio but I may go for a steroid injection as some days it's so painfu; Dillon and I hobble along together on walks these days.

I have a girlfriends weekend to look forward to at the end of January, a vineyard tour and stay at a B & B with husband in February, a trip with my mother to visit one of my brothers in April and a T'ai Chi retreat in May so lots to look forward to.

Wishing you a happy and healthy year xx

  1. Do have the steroid injection before you tour the B&B. Or tour anything. You will be a new woman, dancing like Gene Kelly. It's great to look forward to visits. My friend had to cancel breakfast this morning; her cat got sick after being spayed. You have a wonderful new year, and keep us up to date, please.

  2. So a travel tip....when visiting Asia take snow themed underwear and vests:) Nothing worse than any type of joint pain. I agree get the shot before you go on tour or your retreat

  5. Deffo the steroid injection. Presumably its a different one to the ones I took for chest infections which actually caused my bones to crumble. Your daughter is amazing and your son, working so hard. Happy 2018.
