We have spent a good few days with husband's parents & aunt
looking round old haunts of his...
where he spent his childhood
where he climbed trees
made dens & dug holes
made dens & dug holes
where he was knocked off his bike
& dragged down a hill under a car !
( scars to show )
Where his friends lived
( where they drank home brew & smoked rollies )
Where they did up old cars & listened to music
( ACDC, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top )
The memories flooding out.
Where he learnt to sail.
It's a stunning part of the world
the Clyde coast on the west of Scotland.
We have been talking a lot about husbands's family
who came from the Gorbals in Glasgow.
A very hard life.
Left to right
Husband's father, Great Grandfather, Grandfather

There's a real family resemblance there! So your husband was a hole-digger. My brother used to love spending time on that pursuit too - he used to sy he was going to be a grave digger!

It sounds wonderful, there's nothing better than learning all those little bits about your man that only relatives (and schoolfriends) can tell you :-) especially after a few drinks!!
ReplyDeleteWishing you and yours a very Happy New Year.

ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Sounds like a brilliant time. I love the old photos - it's the scrapper in me. Enjoy the rest of your trip. And oh my what a time I had on my date with lord Barlow - he only had eyes for me. But I said, "Gary, no! I am a married woman..." Happy scrappy new year, jenx
